Deleted Scenes: Reunion

Setting: After June's POV in Chapter 36

“We’re taking a trip to Thirteen!” Janine said, rubbing her face a little bit in disbelief. “Oh God. I-I don’t even know what to say, that motherfucker!”

That motha’fucka’ is right,” Vos said, blinking in disbelief. “The fuckin’ hell?!”

“Stellan also mentioned you by name,” Janine said, punching Monty’s arm. Oh she fucking knew that Indy had feelings for him! Oh God. “He probably needs his T and his hair dye, fuck it, I can’t wait! That bitch left us alone for years, he can deal!” She sniffled.

“I thought you’re a bad bitch that doesn’t cry,” Roux teased her, the first he’d spoken all day as he punched her arm.

“Shut up!” she said, laughing a little bit as she shook her head in disbelief. “That cheeky fuckin’ bitch.”

It wasn’t long at all before the hovercraft was put in motion. The flight seemed to take forever, with June waiting for safety and most importantly, solitude. She just wanted to be alone…

The sun was rising when they arrived. The Victors – and the group from Eight – oohed and ahhed at the secret passageway that opened to a landing ground under the ground. Janine let out another scream when she saw the group out there waiting for them – not able to make out Indy right away but knowing that he was definitely there with them. The whole group of them were screaming, save for Monty, who was bending over backwards by a reflective surface to try and use as a mirror. Ani couldn’t help but smile at them – as they all knew that the reunion between the twins wasn’t going to be very pretty – but at least they could have a moment of happiness. As soon as the door was opened far enough, the friends came running.

“The party has arrived!” Chica said, the first to go running to him and almost tackle him to the ground as she let out a small sob at finally getting to hold him again. “I missed you so much.”

“I know,” he said, his eyes tearing up too after so fucking long. He thought he would never see them again. “Don’t cry for me, Chi-caaa.”

“Oh stop,” she said, not wanting to let go. But she knew she had to. Roxy was right behind her, joining on the hug uninvited and squeezing tight.

“Come on, I’m not the one you slept with but I could at least get a hello!” Roxy teased, but she was also crying.

June watched Janine walk Roux out, as he was clinging to her. “This is the one that I’ve told you so much about,” she said, barely able to hold in her tears when she saw him. “My best friend, he saved us. And lived to tell the tale!” she added. When Chica saw her, she and Roxy let go – holding each other in their excitement – and let Janine go over. Roux stayed behind, going over to the sisters.

“Indy,” Janine said, looking at him for a second. Then, she pulled her hand back and slapped him across the face.

“OW!” Indy cried out, but when Janine hugged him, he squeezed her back tightly. “What the hell?!”

That’s for leaving us!” she said. But now that he was here, she couldn’t help herself, she hugged him so tightly. “I’ve been carrying on your legacy,” she said. “I’m going to show you, I only ever wanted to make you proud.”

“You have made me proud,” he told her, kissing her cheek. “Nothing but proud, hermana, nothing but proud.”

Janine smiled and squeezed his hands, reluctant to let go, but she had to. When Indy saw the next friend, he grinned and blinked in disbelief. “Oh!” he said, hurrying over to Vos. “Look at you, Primo,” he said, holding their shoulders. “You’re all grown up… Oh, there’s so much I want to know!”

Vos wiped a tera out of their eye and crossed their arms, not hugging him. “If you really wanted to know, you wouldn’t’a eva’ left,” they said quietly, letting him hug them but not returning it. “I needed you.”

“I needed you too, Primo,” he said, frowning a little bit. He… Well, Vos was his favorite, he was expecting they’d be happy to see him, and… It hurt that they weren’t. “And I missed you so much.”

“Yeah yeah,” Vos said, reaching up to wipe the tears off their cheek. When Indy let go, they went straight to Janine and Chica. He wasn’t used to them taking care of Vos and not him… He frowned over at Maggie, who was smiling tearily at witnessing their reunion. But she just nodded at him.

“Turn around.”

When he did, he saw the one that he needed more than any of them. Monty just opened his arms and gave Indy the single warmest bear hug he’d ever gotten. Indy practically collapsed into those strong arms, sobbing into his chest when he caught that familiar scent. Oh God, all of that fighting was so worth it just for this moment. He pressed his face into his chest and grabbed tight handfuls of the back of his shirt, pressing his face on his chest and hearing his fucking heartbeat. It was magical… “You haven’t changed at all, Guapo,” he said quietly, his voice breaking. “I missed you so much, Guapo. I missed you todos los dias.”

“I missed you just as much,” Monty said softly, taking off his glasses to press his face in the crook of Indy’s neck. He was different now – wearing gray clothes, his hair brown and shaggy, his voice a little higher and definitely a lot thinner due to a lack of T. But it was still him…

“This is what I needed right now,” he said, finally releasing just a little bit to hold his face. “Monty… Thank you…” he said, his name feeling foreign on his lips, even though it was the same person he left. He looked up at him, chewing on his lip. He knew what he wanted to do, but… It was possible that he moved on, as well he should have. Found someone that could actually love him…

“Hey,” Monty said, smiling at him. “You’ve been brushing your teeth since being here, right?” he asked, hoping Indy would get the hint.

Indy gave him a big toothy grin and nodded quickly. “Oh yeah, I’ve found all the necessary hygiene resources here and used them faithfully Guapo,” he said, looking up at him with wide eyes. After all this time… “Please…” he said, his heart pulling and feeling that impending devastation at just the thought that he would say no. He’d never felt this way before. His voice broke a little bit. “Please…”

Monty held his face and crashed his lips on Indy’s quickly, a kiss that was quickly returned with passion and fire. At first, it felt like a mystery, but Indy melted into Monty’s strong chest right away after a few kisses, all of it coming back to him. He never wanted to stop kissing him now… Monty pulled back a little bit, about to speak, but for once, Indy spoke first, a mumble against his lips.

“I learned one thing from being here, Guapo, and that’s that I can’t stand the thought of being apart from you,” he said. “I-I don’t know what this feeling is but I never want to be apart from you again.” He kissed him again to keep him from responding, feeling nervous and wanting to run away getting that off his chest. But also, in a way… Freed. For once, Monty was the one that didn’t talk, and just kissed him in a way that said it all. He was here, here to stay, he would be Indy’s as long as he wanted, just like before…

He didn’t know what was next… But he knew Monty. He knew that he would never lose him, even if Indy couldn’t love him, which he wasn’t even sure about now… But as long as Indy wanted him he would be there…

As unchanging as the sea.
